Banana Peanut Butter Oat Dog Treats

Banana Peanut Butter Oat Dog Treats

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe medium bananas, mashed

  • ¼ cup natural peanut butter (xylitol/birch sugar-free)

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats, finely ground

  • 1 cup whole wheat (or all-purpose flour) plus more as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Grind the oats in a food processor or blender until they resemble a coarse oat flour.

  3. Mash the bananas well. Mix in the peanut butter and egg until combined.

  4. Stir in the ground oats.

  5. Gradually mix in the flour until you have a soft dough that isn't excessively sticky. Depending on the size of your bananas, you may need an additional 2–4 tablespoons of flour.

  6. Roll the dough about ¼ inch thick on a lightly floured surface and cut into shapes.

  7. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18–25 minutes, until firm and lightly golden.

  8. Cool completely before serving.

For Crunchy Biscuits: After baking, turn off the oven and leave them inside for another 20–30 minutes with the door slightly cracked.

Peanut Butter Safety: Always check the ingredient label before using peanut butter in homemade dog treats. Make sure it does not contain xylitol (also sometimes labeled birch sugar), an artificial sweetener that is highly toxic to dogs. Choose a plain, natural peanut butter without xylitol or other added sweeteners.
